Terms of Service

Effective date: 2026-05-08

1. Acceptance of these Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you (“you”, “user”) and DotaScore (“DotaScore”, “we”, “us”) governing your access to and use of the DotaScore website and any related features (the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of the Service

DotaScore is an independent editorial site covering the Dota 2 professional scene. We aggregate publicly available tournament metadata, match analytics, and live match state from third-party sources (Valve Steam Web API, OpenDota, STRATZ, Liquipedia) and present them alongside our own editorial content. DotaScore is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or specifically approved by Valve Corporation. Dota 2 is a trademark of Valve Corporation; we use it here as a factual reference under fair use.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you confirm your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and consented to these Terms on your behalf.

4. Accounts

The Service uses Steam OpenID for sign-in. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your underlying Steam account; loss of access to your Steam account will result in loss of access to your DotaScore account. We may suspend or terminate accounts at our discretion if these Terms are violated.

5. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to:

  • scrape, crawl, or otherwise programmatically harvest content from DotaScore outside the documented public API and reasonable rate limits;
  • attempt to bypass security controls, rate limits, authentication, or paywalls;
  • upload, post, or transmit content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, defamatory, infringing, fraudulent, or invasive of another's privacy;
  • impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation;
  • upload malicious code or interfere with the Service's operation;
  • resell or redistribute Service content as your own without permission, except where licensing of the underlying source data permits it;
  • engage in automated betting, fantasy, or wagering activities using Service data without an explicit licence from us.

6. Intellectual property

Our content

Editorial articles, original analysis, designs, and source code authored by DotaScore are owned by DotaScore or its contributors. You may view, share, and quote short excerpts with attribution, but you may not republish in full without prior written permission.

Third-party data

Tournament metadata sourced from Liquipedia is licensed under CC-BY-SA 3.0; downstream reuse must preserve attribution and the same licence. Match analytics from OpenDota and STRATZ remain subject to those services' respective terms. Live match data accessed through the Steam Web API remains subject to Valve's terms. The Attribution page enumerates source-by-source credits.

Your content

By submitting content to the Service (tips, comments, profile information), you grant DotaScore a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, modify, and distribute that content as needed to operate the Service. You retain ownership of your submissions; we do not claim copyright in them.

7. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, ERROR-FREE, ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR SECURE. ESPORTS DATA INGESTED FROM THIRD PARTIES MAY BE INCOMPLETE OR INCORRECT; WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THE ACCURACY OF MATCH RESULTS, RANKINGS, OR ANY OTHER DERIVED FIGURE.

NOTHING ON THE SERVICE CONSTITUTES INVESTMENT, BETTING, FANTASY, OR PROFESSIONAL ADVICE. ANY DECISIONS YOU MAKE ARE YOUR OWN.

8. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DOTASCORE, ITS CONTRIBUTORS, AND ITS LICENSORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE WERE ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED FIFTY EUROS (€50) OR THE EQUIVALENT IN YOUR LOCAL CURRENCY.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold DotaScore harmless from any claim, demand, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your infringement of any third-party right.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms or if continued access poses a security or legal risk. On termination, your right to use the Service ceases. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual-property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) shall survive.

11. Changes

We may modify these Terms at any time. The updated effective date will appear at the top of this page; material changes will additionally be surfaced to signed-in users. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which DotaScore's operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes shall be brought before the courts of that jurisdiction. If you are a consumer residing in the EU/UK, these Terms do not deprive you of any mandatory protections available to you under your local law.
