Faceless Void controls time, closes the gap quickly, and can stop multiple enemies with Chronosphere. Time Walk lets him undo some of the damage he recently took, so he can be difficult to catch. In this article, we’ll cover Faceless Void counters for every position, items against him, and ways to play against him at different stages of the game.
Hero Overview
Faceless Void usually plays position 1 — carry. Time Walk helps him undo some of the damage he takes, Time Dilation prevents enemies from using abilities as often, and Chronosphere stops units inside its area. Under the dome, Faceless Void and his allies can quickly kill a caught target.
Early in the game, Faceless Void depends on items and doesn’t farm as quickly as some other carries. He is vulnerable to disables, silences, and pressure before he gets his core items. In team fights, positioning and the ability to save an ally caught in Chronosphere are key.
Best Heroes Against Faceless Void
Faceless Void almost always plays position 1 — carry. Heroes who can save allies from Chronosphere, stop him before he uses his ultimate, or survive the initial focus are useful against him.
Carry
- Wraith King can return to the fight with Reincarnation after Faceless Void has used Chronosphere.
- Weaver with excellent timing on Time Lapse can correct your positioning mistake, allowing you to avoid Faceless Void’s Chronosphere.
Mid
- Outworld Destroyer can remove an ally from Chronosphere with Astral Imprisonment, if he is outside the dome himself.
- Death Prophet applies early pressure and can use Silence to prevent Faceless Void from starting a fight with Chronosphere.
Offlaner
- Axe catches Faceless Void with Berserker’s Call and can punish him with Blade Mail if Void attacks him under the dome.
- Beastmaster interrupts Chronosphere with Primal Roar, even through spell immunity.
Support
- Pudge can pull an ally out of Chronosphere with Meat Hook if he is positioned outside the dome. Dismember helps stop Void himself.
- Shadow Demon saves an ally with Disruption if he casts the ability after the dome begins and isn’t caught inside it himself.
Hard Support
- Abaddon helps protect an ally with Aphotic Shield, while Borrowed Time lets him survive Faceless Void’s focus.
- Vengeful Spirit can pull an ally out of Chronosphere with Nether Swap if she is outside it herself.
What to Build Against Faceless Void
- Aeon Disk helps the owner survive the initial damage if they are caught in Chronosphere.
- Heaven’s Halberd temporarily disarms Faceless Void if used before the dome or on a hero outside it.
- Ghost Scepter helps a support survive physical attacks if they aren’t caught in Chronosphere.
- Force Staff lets you save an ally while they are inside the dome, if they can be targeted.
- Blade Mail reflects some of the damage to Faceless Void when he attacks the item’s owner.
- Orchid Malevolence or Scythe of Vyse help stop Void before he uses Chronosphere.
How to Play Against Faceless Void at Different Stages
Laning
Pressure Faceless Void before he gets items for faster farming. Keep an eye on Time Walk: after he uses it, it’s harder for Void to escape a counterattack. Don’t give him access to safe camps, and ask your team for help if he’s farming too freely.
Mid Game
Don’t group up as a team: Chronosphere can catch several heroes at once. Keep a hero with a save outside the dome’s range and agree in advance who will help an ally caught by the ultimate. Use disables and silences when Void tries to start a fight.
Late Game
Before an important fight, keep track of Faceless Void’s position and don’t reveal all your key heroes in one place. Save your rescue and disable abilities for Chronosphere. If Void uses his ultimate without getting a result, take advantage of its cooldown to start a counterattack or secure an objective.
