Clinkz is a carry who uses invisibility and high physical damage to launch surprise attacks. He moves quickly across the map, hunts isolated targets, and destroys buildings. In this article, we’ll cover Clinkz counters for each position, useful items, and ways to prevent him from gaining an advantage.
Hero Characteristics
Clinkz can disappear using Skeleton Walk and suddenly attack an enemy. Death Pact helps him restore health and gain bonus damage, while Strafe increases his attack range and attack speed. He is especially dangerous against heroes who move around the map alone and have no way to detect invisibility.
However, Clinkz has a small health pool and is vulnerable to disables and quick focus fire. Dust of Appearance, Sentry Ward, and Gem of True Sight help reveal him. If you don’t give him easy kills early in the game, it will be harder for him to build momentum and quickly acquire key items.
Best Heroes Against Clinkz
Clinkz most often plays position 1 as a carry, and sometimes position 2 as a midlaner. He looks for isolated targets and deals physical damage, so heroes who can survive his attack, reveal his invisibility, or quickly catch him with disables are useful.
Carry
- Phantom Lancer creates many illusions, making it harder for Clinkz to find the real target. This makes it difficult for him to quickly pick a victim to attack.
- Wraith King can return to the fight thanks to Reincarnation. Clinkz has to spend more time and abilities, giving his allies a chance to come to the rescue.
Midlaner
- Bloodseeker can see a wounded Clinkz thanks to Thirst and limit his movement with Rupture.
- Zeus deals damage across the entire map with Thundergod’s Wrath and helps reveal invisible Clinkz after hitting him with abilities.
Offlaner
- Slardar reveals Clinkz with Corrosive Haze and can stop him with a Bash of the Deep stun.
- Axe holds Clinkz in place with Berserker’s Call and can quickly reach him with Blink Dagger.
Support
- Bounty Hunter can detect Clinkz with Track and help the team chase him.
- Clockwerk limits Clinkz’s movement with Power Cogs and can catch him from a distance with Hookshot.
Hard Support
- Disruptor can return Clinkz to his previous location with Glimpse and stop him with Kinetic Field.
- Shadow Shaman holds Clinkz with Hex and Shackles if the team has managed to reveal him.
What to Build Against Clinkz
- Dust of Appearance reveals Clinkz near its owner and helps the team launch a counterattack.
- Sentry Ward lets you detect an invisible hero in an important area of the map.
- Gem of True Sight reveals Clinkz and nearby wards, but its bearer needs protection.
- Ghost Scepter helps a support survive Clinkz’s physical attacks.
- Force Staff helps push an ally away from Clinkz or get out of a bad position.
- Heaven’s Halberd temporarily disarms Clinkz and prevents him from dealing damage with attacks.
How to Play Against Clinkz at Different Stages
Laning
Don’t let Clinkz attack a hero who has been left alone without facing consequences. The support should keep Dust on hand and watch the approaches to the lane. If Clinkz uses his abilities on the wave or moves away, take the opportunity to apply pressure.
Mid Game
Move around the map together and place vision along the routes Clinkz might use to approach allies. If he disappears from the map, warn your team and don’t enter the jungle alone. When you spot him, quickly use disables before he can hide again.
Late Game
Save Dust or Gem for a key fight and decide in advance who will reveal Clinkz. Don’t leave supports without backup: he can quickly eliminate an isolated target. Once he starts attacking, use disables and defensive items to prevent him from continuing to deal damage.
