Dark Seer is an offlaner who speeds up allies, clears waves quickly, and changes the enemy team's positioning in a team fight. Vacuum pulls enemies together, while Wall of Replica creates illusions of them. In this article, we'll cover Dark Seer counters for every position, suitable items, and ways to play against him at different stages of the match.

Hero Characteristics

Ion Shell damages enemies near the selected target and helps Dark Seer farm quickly. Surge speeds up an ally, Vacuum pulls enemies together in one spot, and Wall of Replica creates illusions of heroes who cross the wall. That's why Dark Seer is especially strong when enemies are close together.

Dark Seer depends on mana and precise ability usage. If enemies don't group closely, Vacuum and Wall of Replica are harder to use effectively. Mobile heroes can leave the danger zone, while AoE damage helps deal with illusions quickly.

Best Heroes Against Dark Seer

Dark Seer most often plays position 3—the offlaner. He helps his team initiate fights and move around quickly, so mobile heroes with AoE damage and the ability to catch him before he retreats are useful against him.

Carry

  • Phantom Lancer can use Doppelganger to leave the danger zone and creates illusions that make it harder for Dark Seer to choose a suitable target for Wall of Replica.
  • Anti-Mage moves quickly with Blink and can get out of the wall's area. He can also catch Dark Seer before he escapes with Surge.

Mid

  • Kunkka controls Dark Seer with X Marks the Spot and quickly clears the illusions he creates with AoE abilities.
  • Ember Spirit can stun Dark Seer with Searing Chains and quickly reposition with Fire Remnant.

Offlaner

  • Legion Commander catches Dark Seer with Duel and prevents him from retreating or buffing an ally with Surge.
  • Primal Beast quickly closes the gap and holds Dark Seer with Pulverize if he gets out of position.

Support

  • Shadow Demon can save an ally with Disruption and help the team survive the start of an attack.
  • Oracle protects a target from focus with False Promise and removes some negative effects with his abilities.

Hard Support

  • Winter Wyvern saves an ally with Cold Embrace and can stop nearby enemies with Winter’s Curse.
  • Disruptor limits Dark Seer's movement with Kinetic Field and can return him to his previous position with Glimpse.

What to Build Against Dark Seer

  • Black King Bar protects against some of Dark Seer's magic damage and disables.
  • Disperser helps dispel some negative effects from its owner and provides movement speed to leave the danger zone.
  • Force Staff lets you quickly get out of Vacuum or Wall of Replica and help an ally reposition.
  • Diffusal Blade helps attack illusions faster and reduces the target's mana pool.
  • Pipe of Insight reduces magic damage for its owner and nearby allies.
  • Scythe of Vyse provides reliable control and prevents Dark Seer from retreating with Surge.

How to Play Against Dark Seer at Different Stages

Laning

Be mindful of Ion Shell damage and don't stand near an ally affected by the ability for too long. Don't let Dark Seer pull creeps away or farm multiple camps at once without punishment. If he spends mana on a wave, use that time to apply pressure.

Mid Game

Don't group up in a narrow passage: Vacuum can pull several heroes together at once. Keep your distance and plan an escape route from Wall of Replica in advance. If Dark Seer appears away from his team, catch him with disables before he can speed himself or an ally up.

Late Game

Before a team fight, spread out so Dark Seer can't pull the whole team into one spot. Save abilities to clear illusions and get out of the wall. If he has already used Vacuum and Wall of Replica, the team has an opportunity to initiate a counterattack more safely.
